Another Kind Of Blues - 7" EP

Vancouver's Another Kind of Blues with Neil Embo from House Of Commons. Not blues music as the name may imply but decent mid 80's punk. Neil gave me this on blue vinyl when I used to buy records off of him.

The Subhumans - No Wishes, No Prayers

The final release from The Subhumans on Black Flag's SST records. This was one of the first punk records I ever bought. I ended up selling it to a friend for beer money, and some years later convinced him to sell it back to me although not in the same condition. He was pretty hard on his vinyl, thanks John!

Red Tide - Kelp And Salal 7" EP

A decent EP from RED TIDE out of Victoria B.C. The drummer Ken Jensen, later went on to play for D.O.A. before tragically he was killed in a fire at his basement home several years later. (RIP)

Riot .303 - Crowd Control 7" EP

Riot .303 from Calgary kind of reminds me of  The Subhumans. Ron Hadley sang for this band and later went on to Beyond Possession.

Beyond Possession - Is Beyond Possession

This Beyond Possession LP is fast and furious. It's hardcore, crossover and metal all in one. If you're into that sort of mix like I am then definitely get this, you won't be disappointed.

Unwanted - Shattered Silence

The Unwanted from Winnipeg. This album has a slight metal influence, the songs are good but a bit boring. I saw them live but can't remember who else played, maybe Youth Brigade.

The Subhumans - Incorrect Thoughts

Incorrect Thoughts is just a truly awesome album. Unfortunately this is the reissue that "CD Presents" put out. It has a different track order and 2 extra songs, plus a cover so ugly that I decided to use the original. It was put out without the bands input or permission and the guy is claiming ownership of the songs! I have 2 copies of the original, one is sealed.

The Subhumans have re-recorded this LP and have released it with a few more songs as "Same Thoughts Different Day". Go and buy it! I'm going to when I go back to Canada.

Death Sentence - Not A Pretty Sight

Mid 80's hardcore from Vancouver. A bit generic but not a bad album at all. The first song "Live to Die" is kind of a punk anthem that everyone would sing along to.

SNFU - And No One Else Wanted To Play

I'm sure I've seen 3 covers for this album, this is similar to to original one I saw in Canada. Anyway, the record's great but I was really blown away the first time I saw them play. The recording can never do justice to their live performance. They came to the after show party at our house with DOA but neither stayed too long as far a I can remember.

Stretch Marks - What D'ya See

A decent album from these guy's, but not nearly as good as the Who's In Charge 7".

Dayglo Abortions - Feed US A Fetus

A crazy, funny, metal influenced band from Victoria. They ended up staying at our house for about a week because their bus broke down. They made us chili, we played dungeons and dragons and partied. One night the roadie was so drunk he stood in front of the dart board and let everyone throw a dart to see who could get the closest to his head. My friends sister lost because she planted one right in his melon! The drummer Jesus Bonehead gave me a copy of this when they left but someone eventually stole it.

House of Commons - Patriot

I really like this album a lot. I guess these guys were from Victoria, but I used to see the guitarist Neil Embo every Saturday at the Vancouver flea market when I was hunting for vinyl. He had a stall selling records and I used to have a dig and hang out for a while. Never got to see them play though.

Down Syndrome - 7" EP

Down Syndrome from Edmonton. I know I saw them sometime, somewhere, with somebody because I bought this EP at the show. I think it was with SNFU or maybe DOA.

Black Sun Records, 1986

The Subhumans - 12" EP

Possibly my favorite Canadian band. I didn't get to see them live until their reunion tour in Vancouver in 1995. This 4 song EP is a classic. It has been re-released on CD/LP with both 7" singles and  2 more songs  on Alternative Tentacles Records, Virus 391. Go and buy it!

Quintessence Records, 1979

Beyond Possession - Tell Tale Heart 7" EP

Beyond Possession were from Calgary and were a kickass Punk band with metal influences. I saw them in the mid 80's with the Melvins and once or twice more. This one is the 2nd pressing with song number 6 "Dying Fast" missing which was put on the LP "Beyond Possession is Beyond Possession".

Personality Crisis - Creatures For Awhile

Winnipegs Personality Crisis. The first punk band I never saw. We went to see these guys in 82? and the show got cancelled even though the band and a bunch of people were there. I guess the club owner didn't like the look of everyone. Anyway, a bunch of us went somewere else and we heard the next day that they played at someones house and we missed it! I've got the original of this plus the UK reissue.

Stretch Marks - Who's In Charge 7" EP

The Stretch Marks from Winnipeg, these guy's were awesome. I was lucky enough to see them twice, once in Winnipeg and once in Regina. They stayed overnight at my friends house after the Regina show. For some reason I have 2 copies of this.

Headbutt Records, 1983

Youth Youth Youth - Sin

One of my favorite Canadian bands. I have the original vinyl plus the Fringe reissue. Unfortunately I never got to see them play live.
